Brand new Finance Manager role - friendly US law firm!

Salary - £120,000

Location - St Paul's

Hybrid - 3/2

A much-heralded US law firm are looking to add a new Finance Manager to their flourishing practice. The firm are long established in London and despite being part of a much larger organisation, the London office has kept its identity. Setting them apart from others, this firm adopt a laid back and relaxed approach and offer a friendly and welcoming environment that will suit all.

Working closely with the Head of Finance and Director of Administration, this Finance Manager role directly supervises the Accounts department functions for London, Brussels and Dubai whilst managing 4 Billers, 2 Accounts Payable and a Legal Cashier.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervision and mentoring of Accounts staff, including defining roles, responsibilities, training, performance monitoring, carrying out mid-year & year-end staff evaluations and supervision of daily activities. Also includes the management of staff absences, the work from home rota, overtime submissions and temporary staff members.
  • Ensuring compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules and other applicable laws and regulations in each office. Being an active member of the London compliance team.
  • Supervising invoice and expense payments in accordance with central instructions and Firm procedures and monitoring the firm's online invoice and expenses submitted on Chrome River.
  • Managing the cash requirements of the London, Brussels and Dubai offices, including the preparation of a monthly cash statement.
  • Supervising the billing process and the preparation of bills.
  • Ensuring quality monthly closing processes are maintained, including the submission of expense estimates and the reconciliation of key general ledger accounts.
  • Allocating payments and receipts to office and client/trust accounts in accordance with applicable rules for each office
  • Preparing the periodic VAT return for each office and submitting to management for approval. Filing online or through local tax advisors as appropriate. Handling VAT payments and refunds as necessary.
  • Managing the preparation of the London office annual Accountant's Report including liaison and sign off by the firm's appointed external accountant/auditor.
  • Preparation of monthly and annual business surveys for the Office for National Statistics, as required.
  • Carrying out monthly bank reconciliation reviews and actively managing the firm's residual client account balances.
  • Managing the processing and payment of the Brussels and Dubai office attorney payroll, including settlement of related taxes and pension liabilities.
