Resource Manager - City Law Firm
Location: London (Hybrid - 3 days office / 2 days remote)
Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 DOE
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
Hours: 35 hours per week (9:30am-5:30pm)
The Firm
Our client is a well-established UK law firm operating in the mid-market with a growing international footprint. The firm is recognised for its strong client focus, continued investment in technology and centralised business services, and ambitious growth plans over the coming years.
The Opportunity
We are recruiting a Resource Manager for a senior role within a central operations function, reporting into the Chief Operating Officer. This position plays a key role in overseeing the financial, operational and compliance performance of the firm's legal departments.
Working closely with Heads of Department who hold P&L responsibility, the Resource Manager will act as a trusted operational partner, supporting efficiency, profitability, regulatory compliance and strategic growth.
This role would suit an experienced professional services manager, ideally from a legal environment, who enjoys operating at both strategic and hands-on levels.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee financial management for legal departments, including expense approvals, forecasting and budget monitoring
Support revenue control, financial planning and ongoing performance against budget
Ensure compliance with regulatory and risk frameworks, including SRA, AML and internal quality standards
Manage day-to-day operational processes in collaboration with HR, Finance, IT and Risk teams
Chair capacity and partner meetings, monitor matter statuses and support governance activity
Assist with people performance data, KPIs, complaints handling and continuous improvement
Support recruitment planning for trainees, apprentices and newly qualified lawyers
Coordinate departmental training around firm-wide metrics and operational standards
Manage partner onboarding and offboarding, including client and matter transitions
Act as a key escalation point for operational and systems-related issues
About You
Proven experience in a senior operational or resource management role within professional services
Previous experience in a law firm is highly desirable
Strong stakeholder management, leadership and communication skills
Commercially minded, detail-focused and confident in decision-making
Comfortable working with financial and document management systems
Adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
